The new oncology centre, together with the imaging centre in the same building and the diversified medical facilities, will elevate UMP’s healthcare platform to another level. I have confidence that this purchase will enhance the business contribution to the Group and create a synergistic contribution to the overall healthcare business."
New oncology and physiotherapy centres open with the latest acquisition and lease
The medical facilities in the Second Purchase include (i) physiotherapy-used focused shockwave therapy machine, high-intensity laser machine, and electrotherapy and ultrasound equipment; (ii) chemotherapy cleanroom for oncology treatment; and (iii) other physiotherapy and oncology equipment. UMP will also rent the whole 12/F and 20/F of the same building, where the medical facilities purchased in the Second Purchase are located.
UMP will open a new oncology centre and new physiotherapy and wellness centre, adding to a broader spectrum of service provision situated in the heart of Central, including imaging services, day surgery, physiotherapy, preventive check-up services, general and specialist consultation, to provide an intimate total solution to the needed patients. The new centres bring a patient-centric approach to providing comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation care through a multi-disciplinary team of oncologists, nurses, radiation therapists, and medical physicists, along with the newly purchased medical facilities.
Laboratory accredited by HOKLAS gains advantages for government and commercial project tenders
In addition, ProCare Medical Imaging and Laboratory Centre ("ProCare Lab"), an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the Group, has been recognized by the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS) under the Hong Kong Government’s Innovation and Technology Commission on 1 June this year. This is testament to our capability to provide clinicians and patients, a quality medical testing service of a world-known ISO 15189:2012 standard regarding our laboratory standards, management, and technical requirements.
Besides, with this certification, the Group is now eligible to take part in the bidding of medical laboratory services tenders of the Hong Kong government, including testing of infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, haematology, and serology. It is also expected that the Group would become one of the favourable service providers to a wide range of corporate clients.
