UMP Healthcare Announces Cooperation with Taishan Charitable Association on Virtual Care Charity Program

Integration of Healthcare with Technology to Promote Community Care

UMP Healthcare Holdings Limited (“UMP” or the “Group”; SEHK stock code: 722), announced today its cooperation with Taishan Charitable Association Limited (“Taishan Charitable Association”) on a virtual care charity program. It will be carried out through the donation of time by UMP’s General Practitioners who will provide tele-consultation services with basic medication free of charge via the Group’s virtual care platform for patients from Taishan Charitable Association’s charity clinic to promote community care.

The signing ceremony of the virtual care charity program was held at Taishan Charitable Association’s charity clinic in Kwun Tong to kick off the one-year program. Officiating guests attending the signing ceremony included Taishan Charitable Association’s Chairman Mr. Chan Ying Kit, Secretary-General of the Board Mr. Kwok Man Leung, as well as UMP’s Managing Director and Executive Director Ms. Jacquen Kwok, Executive Director and China President Mr. Felix Lee, and Vice President, Chief Training Officer and Chief Medical Director of UMP Healthcare China Dr. Kenny Kung.

The charity program leverages Taishan Charitable Association’s charity clinic as a pilot point, with General Practitioners from UMP providing Chinese-English bilingual tele-consultation services on a weekly basis. Smart tablets will be set at the charity clinic to allow patients’ adoption of the service under the guidance of medical staff. The consultation and medication fee will be waived by UMP at the current stage, while medication will be accessible at UMP’s clinics.

Eliminate pre-consultation waiting and tighten doctor-patient relationship

Senior citizens, chronically ill patients or disabled patients need to have regular medical check-ups at clinics. The transportation process is not only time-consuming but also involves high risk of infection or injury. The prolonged pre-consultation waiting and the extremely short doctor consultation make the overall medical experience unsatisfactory. Leveraging tele-consultation services without geographical restrictions, patients will no longer need to suffer from tiring transportation, leading to reduction of time and health-endangering risks.

Integration of healthcare with technology to optimize medical resources

UMP introduced the first online and offline virtual care service that supports Mandarin, Cantonese and English in mainland China in January 2020. It allows UMP’s GOLD™ trained and certified doctors to deliver real-time tele-consultation services 24/7 to patients located across China. Coupled with fast and convenient “medicines delivered to your front door” logistics support, UMP is dedicated to providing one-stop online and offline primary care solutions to patients in mainland China.

Mr. Kwok Man Leung, Secretary-General of the Board of Taishan Charitable Association, mentioned, “Taishan Charitable Association has always upheld the purpose of ‘Promoting Love and Alleviating Suffering’ and is committed to giving back to our society, while UMP upholds its vision of giving everyone access to trusted and affordable care. The sharing of the same philosophy of helping patients in need is the exact reason for our charity cooperation with UMP. With our years of experience and network on charity initiatives, we are pleased to cooperate with UMP leveraging its technological advancement in virtual care to provide our patients with thoughtful tele-consultation service and promote community care.”

Mr. Felix Lee, Executive Director and China President of UMP, mentioned, “It is our pleasure to collaborate with Taishan Charitable Association on the launch of the virtual care charity program. We believe that one of the most meaningful ways to give back to our community is the donation of time, the most priceless resource we have, by our General Practitioners through the provision of tele-consultation service for patients at Taishan Charitable Association’s charity clinic. This also creates a practicable and sustainable way of charity contributions for our busy doctors which in turn will further attract more General Practitioners who are committed to serving our society to participate in community care services.

Through this successful charity cooperation with Taishan Charitable Association, we look forward to explore further opportunities of cooperation with other charitable organizations leveraging UMP’s technological advancement to care for the health and well-being of the wider public. We believe the timely connection of patients to the appropriate care requires UMP to continue to invest in our technology. Looking ahead, we are actively researching on the possibility of introducing the technology of electronic medicines dispensing machines from mainland China and overseas to save the logistics and time in getting the right medication to the hands of patients. Once the technology is mature and feasible, we hope to work with Taishan Charitable Association to explore such technology and machines deployment so that patients can truly enjoy a one-stop online and offline primary care experience without geographical restriction, which further contributes to the healthy development of overall primary care services.”
